Training Sessions
Group Lessons: Available for agility training
Foundation - Introduction Group Agility Classes:
These classes are for dogs and/or handlers with little or no experience in agility. While obedience training is not a necessary prerequisite, the dog should have some basic obedience skills, and should be under control by the handler with simple commands such as "sit", "down", "stay", and "come". However, these commands are worked on in classes too. Agility is a great socialization activity for your dog. We start puppies at 14 weeks in agility group training classes. Foundation class is very low impact.
The focus will be on developing a foundation and bond for competition in agility, as well as manners. The classes will cover foundation shaping with "gates", "buckets", "barrels" and the introduction of standard agility equipment used in competition and basic agility. Each six-week session consists of one class per week for approximately one hour. Dogs learn to desensitize to noise and distractions around them. Dogs also learn they are here to work with their handlers, and not here to play with each other. This is not a dog park.
Beginner - Novice Group Agility Classes:
In order to participate in the Beginner or Novice Agility Class your dog must be easily controlled off leash, both on and off the agility equipment, and have taken our Foundation - Introductory Agility Class. The Beginner - Novice class further expands on the skills necessary to start competition at the Novice level. In this class increased emphasis will be on sequencing obstacles, course strategy, course memorization, teamwork and handling techniques. Each six-week session consists of one class per week for approximately one hour.
Open - Intermediate Group Agility Classes:
This class is for dogs who have taken the Foundation - Introduction, Beginner and Novice classes, and who are out competing. Preparing to move up in level of difficulty to Open and Elite. Advanced skills needed for team confidence, distance, speed and accuracy are our main focus in this fast-paced class. Each six-week session consists of one class per week for approximately one hour.
Advanced - Champions Group Agility Classes:
The Advanced - Champions Agility Class is for dogs that are currently competing at the highest agility levels. More complex handling techniques and strategies are taught in this class in preparation for competing at the highest levels. Maintaining team timing at distance, speed with accuracy, and extreme distance handling work are the focus in this class. Each six-week session consists of one class per week for approximately one hour.
Training Application:
In order to participate in any of our training sessions, you will need to pre-register via communication directly with Lin to reserve your place in class. Your dog will need a flat buckle collar, 6' leash (no "flexies, please), and soft food treats or toys (whatever motivates your dog). The dog must be healthy and non-aggressive. A current shot record from your vet, and a signed Hold Harmless Agreement will also be required. Click HERE for an application.
