Training Sessions
Group Lessons: Available for agility training
Foundation - Introduction Group Agility Classes:
These classes are for dogs and/or handlers with little or no experience in agility. While competition level obedience training is not a necessary prerequisite, the dog should have some basic obedience skills, and should be under control by the handler with simple commands such as "sit", "down", "stay", and "come". We start puppies as young as 14 weeks in agility group training classes.
The focus will be on developing a foundation and bond for competition in the various agility venues. The classes will cover foundation shaping work with "gates", and the introduction of standard agility equipment used in competition and basic agility. Each six-week session consists of one class per week for approximately one hour. Dogs learn to desensitize to noise and distractions around them. Dogs also learn they are here to work with their handlers, and not here to play with each other.
Beginner - Novice Group Agility Classes:
In order to participate in the Beginner or Novice Agility Class, your dog must be easily controlled off leash, both on and off the agility equipment, and have taken our Foundation - Introductory Agility Class. The Beginner - Novice class further expands on the skills necessary to start competion at the Novice level. Increased emphasis on course strategy, course memorization, teamwork and handling techniques are taught in this class. Each six-week session consists of one class per week for approximately one hour.
Open - Intermediate Group Agility Classes:
This class is for dogs who have taken the Foundation - Introduction, Beginner and Novice classes, and are out competing, moving up in level of difficulty to Open and Elite. Advanced skills needed for distance, speed and accuracy are our main focus in this fast-paced class. Each six-week session consists of one class per week for approximately one hour.
Advanced - Champions Group Agility Classes:
The Advanced - Champions Agility Class is for dogs that are currently competing at the Open, Elite, NATCH - MEDAL Championship Levels. More complex handling techniques and strategies are taught in this class in preparation for competing at the highest levels. Maintaining team timing at distance and speed with accuracy, and "line work" are our focus in this class. Each six-week session consists of one class per week for approximately one hour.
Training Application:
In order to participate in any of our training sessions, you will need to pre-register. Your dog will need a flat buckle collar, leash and soft food treats or toys (whatever motivates your dog). The dog must be healthy and non-aggressive. A current shot record from your vet, and a signed Hold Harmless Agreement will also be required. Click here for an application.
